But generically, they're called Challenger Deep and all of about equivalent depth over, say, an axis of about 30 miles. The actual Challenger Deep is - consists of really three deep places. So, you know, this is a vast frontier down there that it's going to take us a while to understand.įLATOW: Now, can you relate to what he saw? Are you - or were you in a different part of the trench? The Challenger Deep, which is only a small part of the Mariana Trench, is something like 50 times the size of the Grand Canyon. JAMES CAMERON: When I came down, I landed, it was a very, very soft, almost featureless plain, and it just went out of sight as far as I could see. Now, we have a little clip of James Cameron who just came back, and we have a clip about what he saw when he went down there. Let's - I want to - I held playing back the clip because I wanted to hear you describe what you saw. And that was quite a sighting, if true, of a higher-order marine vertebrate in such - at such a great depth. WALSH: Well, just before we landed, we spotted what we thought was a flatfish, a white flat - like a halibut or a sole, a foot long. WALSH: And we culminated that dive series then in January of 1960 with a dive to 24,000 feet, and then about 10 days later, the dive to the deepest place in the world ocean.įLATOW: Now what did you see when you got down there? The magnetic field of the Earth captures a part of the solar wind, and the display of light comes from the many collisions between the particles. It occurs when the energetic electrons of the solar wind interact with molecules and atoms in our atmosphere. If there is no outlet for the accumulation of energy, the winds will accumulate. This heat comes from water vapor that rises to clouds, releasing energy. They form over the ocean when a low pressure area is fed by the heat of condensation. When the stress between these plates grows and one of them slips, the shock waves are sent through the earth and any nearby bodies of water. 9- EarthquakesĮarthquakes occur because Earth is composed of tectonic plates Connected by fault lines. He was inspired by a design by one of his contemporaries, Alphonse Penaud, and wanted to improve upon it. The first 3 piece wheel was created in the late 1800s by a French inventor named Alphonse Beau de Rochas. The right wheels for your vehicle should be chosen with all of your considerations in mind. Despite their weight, they can still accelerate, run at a high rate of speed, and perform well in terms of fuel efficiency, agility, and acceleration. Larger rims may perform better if they have more contact patch surface area, allowing them to handle and perform better. Steel wheels are typically less expensive and require less cosmetic maintenance than other types of wheels. Steel wheels are generally regarded as stronger and more durable than aluminum, making them an excellent choice for heavier vehicles and those that drive in harsh conditions. When it comes to steel and aluminum rims, it is critical to consider their strength and durability. Go With Steel: Durable, Strong And Cost-effective Wheels For Your Vehicle To accomplish this, a billet of steel is subjected to a ridiculous amount of heat and pressure, which causes it to become extremely dense and immensely strong, crushing the material into a wheel. What Type Of Rims Are The Strongest?Īs one of the strongest wheels on the market, forged aluminium is an excellent choice. Furthermore, you must be able to drive and where you drive most of the time in order to use them. The rim must fit the vehicle, which must be done correctly in order to improve the vehicle’s performance. It is critical to select the right rims to improve performance and make the ride smoother. The rims of a vehicle serve a much greater purpose than simply to enhance the vehicle’s appearance. Does It Matter What Rims You Put On A Car? This is the outermost edge of the wagon wheel, which was surrounded by a steel band made of wood. Is Rim Slang For Wheel?Ī rim is a term that refers to a piece of equipment like a wheel, which is the origin of the term wheel rim. It is located near the center of the wheel’s decorative area and is the outer circular design. Tires are held in place on the outer edge of the wheel by this part. Rims, in reality, are just one component of the wheel. Ultimately, when choosing the right rim for your car, it is important to look at size, style, and material to make sure you get the best rim for your needs. Alloy rims are often more durable than steel rims and can stand up better to wear and tear. Additionally, consider what material the rim is made of. If you prefer a certain look, such as a classic or modern style, find a rim that matches your preference. Once you have determined the size of the rim, you can start looking at the style and material. ![]() If the rim is too small, it may not fit properly and could cause damage to the tire and the vehicle itself.
